New Zealand’s oldest winery, Mission Estate, has announced the appointment of senior leader Avram Deitch in the position of marketing manager.

Originally from the US, Deitch’s passion for wine developed through several years managing restaurants, beverage programmes and retail wine shops. In 2005 he discovered a taste for marketing when he joined Constellation Wines US.

Five years later, he expanded his US domestic marketing experience with an international role, managing marketing and operations for everything outside of the US, with Delicato Family Vineyards.

Avram joins Mission Estate after serving as global marketing manager at Yealands Wine Group, and happily relocates from Auckland to the sunny Hawke’s Bay.

“Deitch is ex Yealands Wine Group, and happily relocates from Auckland to the sunny Hawke’s Bay.”

“I’ve been so lucky during my career that I’ve been exposed to the intricacies of the wine business, while never being more than a few steps away from the vineyard,” he said. “Being a part of a company that is literally nestled into the vineyards, and has such an incredible history is very exciting to me.”

Mission Estate ceo Peter Holley said: “We have taken our time searching the market to find the right fit for this position. Avram brings an innovative, and inspiring approach to his area of the business, and represents the exciting position Mission Estate is in today.

“We have a lot to achieve, and I am very pleased to have a  talented team of people supporting our efforts as a 167 year old New Zealand wine company”
