The Clemenger Group New Zealand has merged the group’s marketing services companies in Wellington to form a ‘new age’ agency out of Clemenger BBDO, Touchcast and Proximity. The combined shop will be known as Clemenger BBDO/Touchcast.

“With the resources, talent and capabilities required for the future, no other agency in Wellington, and only a handful in Auckland, can boast the capabilities of the combined Wellington agency,” said group ceo Jim Moser.

“The new entity is designed specifically to take on the marketing communications challenges of tomorrow, providing capabilities in digital, data, direct/CRM, customer experience, advertising and retail – alongside our integrated media capabilities at OMD Wellington.

“Joining these companies together has been on the cards for quite some time as it just makes sense for the future.

“Collectively all three agencies have a successful history steeped in design, strategy, technology and storytelling. Combining these strengths and capabilities makes for a formidable offer in market. The diversity of skills will lead to even better outcomes for our clients’ businesses.”

Clemenger BBDO/Touchcast will be led by managing director Brett Hoskin, alongside executive creative director Brigid Alkema, and managing partners Andrew Hawley, Rod Schofield and Linda Major.

“Brett Hoskin has been with the Clemenger Group since he started his career many years ago,” Moser said. “He won’t let me mention how many, but it’s a lot, trust me.

“I’ve seen Brett really develop into his leadership role over the years. No-one is better suited to lead a team of multi-disciplined, multi-skilled professionals. He’s won the respect and support of his clients, his colleagues and the market. With his direct/data/digital background, he has the experience and knowledge we need to drive our clients’ businesses forward in the future.”

Brett Hoskin said: “Our world has never been more connected, and our clients are demanding an equally connected offering. It’s exciting to have such a wide range of multi-disciplinary teams working together under one roof. We can now execute everything in the customer journey from the brand story right through every touchpoint in the digital and physical experience. It’s going to be a very powerful offering for our clients.”

Andrew Hawley said: “I think what unites us is an understanding that people and culture are what shapes the brand platforms, products, services and experiences we create for our clients. Not the other way round.”

“Wellington has always been an important and significant market for the Clemenger Group Australasia,” Moser said. “The group first entered the market in 1972, through a minority-interest in the (then) start-up known as Colenso Wellington.

“The changes announced today reflect a continued investment and interest in Wellington and the agencies’ clients based there – public and private sector alike.
