AUCKLAND, Tuesday: The NZ Marketing Association has appointed Auckland-based business consultant John Miles as ceo, replacing Tony Mitchell who will leave in mid-September.

Miles has extensive experience both as a marketer, ceo and GM. He has held roles across a number of industries in both Australia and NZ, most recently in the international educational sector. His current role is with Laureate International Universities based in Auckland.

The new man – who reckons he has “marketing in his DNA” – aims to drive a strong professional organisation, providing (according to the MA release):

  • Members with a professional end to end development path for their career and ongoing development, in a changing and disruptive global environment
  • Connecting marketers, across their specialities and with stakeholders
  • Leading on key marketing issues in the wider NZ environment.

NZ Marketing Association chair Jo Boerema-Barr said: “John is a strategic and innovative thinker, whose business and leadership experience will be invaluable to the MA as it continues to inspire business success through a connected and talented marketing community.”

He will start his new role on Monday 30 September.

Tony Mitchell
Boerema-Barr said: “On behalf of the board and staff, we thank Tony Mitchell for his leadership and passion in leading the MA over the past 2½ years and wish him all the best with his governance career.”
