No jobs lost at failed business title

Fairfax Media has announced the imminent shutdown of the last vestige of former glamour business title Unlimited. The last digital edition of Unlimited will be uploaded in December.

The print edition (established by Barry Colman and IDG) closed 18 months ago, cruelly exposed by a drastic drop in paid sales – down from 3667 in December 2008 to 1379 in December 2012 (according to the ABC). Fairfax have released no data on online subscriptions.

“Unlimited has been a digital-only magazine since April last year,” said group executive editor Sinead Boucher.

Boucher says there will be no redundancies, with both Unlimited staff members moving to new positions within Fairfax. Editor Maria Slade becomes Auckland issues editor, and deputy editor Emma Rawson has been appointed as content development editor at Fairfax Magazines.

“This change is part of our long-term digital strategy, focusing on reaching our audience within the Stuff environment,” Boucher said.
