NZ link to hard-hitting Clinton TVC

Two Kiwi creatives are said to be behind the new video that some US commentators are saying could spell the end of Donald Trump’s run for the presidency.

The video is clearly the work of Hillary Clinton’s ad agency, Droga5 New York – but the agency would not directly confirm this, referring Adweek to Clinton’s press team (which has yet to respond), and the NZ creatives have been referred to only obliquely in a blog posting:

“Nothing is as good as this spot made by a NZ team being shared around Facebook today,” wrote one blogger. “America is going crazy for it.”

The spot, which was rolled out on the candidate’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram platforms at the weekend, features children all across the country, their faces aglow from their television sets as they watch Trump at his racist-sexist best with his supporters responding with laughter and cheers

“By letting Trump speak for himself and showcasing what it looks like when children hear those words, the effort seems to paint a dystopian view of the future before presenting Clinton as a voice of reason,” Adweek said.

“Clinton’s camp has used a similar tactic before, letting members of the Republican party do the Trump-bashing instead of Clinton herself.

The Washington Post says the spot will be used in battleground states like Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, New Hampshire, Iowa, Florida, Nevada and North Carolina as part of a US $10.5 million ad deal that was announced in June.
