NZME is bringing its Mix format – hits of the ’80s and ’90s – to Whangarei, where Mix89.2 launches on Monday 4 July.

Hits of the ’80s and ’90s? On Mix89.2 you’ll hear Madonna, Prince, Hello Sailor, Michael Jackson, Crowded House, INXS, U2 and Robbie Williams etc etc.

Mix Breakfast will be hosted by radio and TV personality Mel Homer, who is excited about engaging with Whangarei listeners. “I always like to mix it up on my show and chat to guests and experts on a range of topics, from beauty and food through to technology and entertainment. I’m an avid sailor and love to visit Whangarei!” says Homer.  “I’m sure they’ll love the throwback tunes on Mix89.2.”

NZME group director – entertainment Dean Buchanan says the NZME team is thrilled to offer the people of Whangarei an exciting music alternative.

“We identified a clear gap in the market in Whangarei for listeners who love music from the ’80s and ’90s without all the talk and hype of the other stations.

“We’re finding all the best songs – and then pressing shuffle!”
