Ogilvy and Clemenger are the first NZ agencies on to the scoreboard on Day 1 at D&AD 2017 in London.
But like all entrants, they will have to wait until the award ceremony at Troxy, London tomorrow (Thursday 27 April) to find out which colour Pencil (Wood, Graphite, Yellow or Black) they’ve won.
O&M’s win came for Auckland Council A Kauri Cries in the Crafts for Design (Sound Design & Use of Music for Websites & Digital Design) category.
Clemenger was rewarded for KiwiRail The Conscious Crossing in Creativity for Good (Design Brands).
The numbers
The total number of Pencils awarded in each category on Day 1 are:
- Writing for Design – 6 Pencils
- Outdoor – 21 Pencils
- Crafts for Design – 24 Pencils
- PR – 26 Pencils
- Crafts for Advertising – 32 Pencils
- Creativity for Good – 33 Pencils
- Music Videos – 12 Pencils
- Magazine & Newspaper Design – 23 Pencils
All 177 pieces will appear in the 55th D&AD Annual published later this year.
So far the top five ranking countries by Pencils won are: UK 38, USA 33, Australia 17, France 9, Japan/Singapore/Sweden 7 apiece.
