Arrivals & Departures: OOH taps industry leader

The Outdoor Media Association has appointed respected senior industry figure Derek Lindsay to the role of general manager.

Lindsay has operated at the highest levels of media in both the UK and New Zealand. His NZ experience includes leadership roles at local powerhouses SparkPHD and FCB, plus a long stint as vice-president at CAANZ and chair of the CAANZ Media Committee.

“Derek’s appointment underscores the commitment of OMANZ members and the shared resolve to restore momentum to the association,” said OMANZ chairman Wayne Chapman.

“We are determined to reinvigorate becalmed projects such as the development of a unified audience measurement system and excited at the prospect of having Derek in the vanguard of such important initiatives. He shares our enthusiasm for the future of OOH in New Zealand, andwe’re confident that his standing, skills and experience will help to continue to propel our association and sector to new heights.”

Derek Lindsay said: “OOH is experiencing real positive growth, both here in New Zealand but also across other larger markets.

“The development of digital screens plus renewed, smarter sales and marketing approaches by the OMANZ members, means that the industry has a huge potential. It is exciting to be part of that, to represent the industry and introduce a new industry measurement system.”

The Outdoor Media Association of NZ is a not-for-profit, professional, cohesive industry body representing key Outdoor Media display companies who collectively contribute approx. 88% of total out of home advertising industry revenue. OMANZ’s key focus is to educate and raise awareness of the role of out of home media within the community, to build and sustain relations with its key stakeholders, to develop best practice industry standards and to provide services to its members.

OMANZ is governed by a board of directors and adhere to a Code of Practice and abide by the regulatory frameworks in which they operate. OMANZ media display members: Adshel, APN Outdoor, oOh! Media, Media5 and QMS.
