Partington puts kibosh on Maher rumour

Reports that former MediaWorks TV ceo Paul Maher will convert his part-time role at Ogilvy & Mather into a fulltime executive position may be premature.

O&M managing director Greg Partington told M+AD this morning that Maher will continue his work with the media business at Ogilvy, providing media strategy and thought leadership in 2016.

“It will be three days each week, so a part-time role,” Partington said. “The finer points of the contract are still being worked through.”

One website last week speculated that Maher was in the running to take over the reins from Partington “in the near future” – but Partington’s response this morning appears to put an end to that speculation.

In other news from Ogilvy: Business director Terry Daly left the agency last Friday for parts unknown, and head of digital Greg Whitham also departed recently, after seven years with the agency, to join cloud-based NZ marketing company VML.

Whitham’s replacement at Ogilvy, Paul Pritchard, was the subject of a press release last week here but that document did not mention Whitham’s departure.
