Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei saw last week’s announcement from Apple as an opportunity to showcase their #HigherIntelligence and employ guerrilla marketing tactics both locally and globally – an opportunity quickly seized by Auckland agency Pead PR.
After many Apple fans and spectators had anticipated a triple camera lens on the next Apple devices, many were left surprised by the single lens offering from the iPhone XS and XR.
Huawei NZ took the opportunity to highlight its market-leading triple camera, posting a video on Facebook of the P20 Pro slicing an apple, quite literally, with the caption reading: “maybe next year iPeople”?
“Huawei’s P20 Pro is the only smartphone in the world with a triple lens camera and capabilities that even the latest iPhones can’t match.”
“The aim was to show Kiwis that Huawei’s P20 Pro remains the only smartphone in the world to have a triple lens camera and offers incredible photography capabilities that even the latest phones from Apple can’t match,” said Pead PR MD Sarah Munnik.
“What’s more, Huawei’s flagship P20 Pro can be purchased for less than Apple’s ‘affordable’ midrange device, the iPhone XR.
“The images [above] compare the iPhone XR with the recently launched Huawei nova 3i, demonstrating that Huawei’s midrange device provides twice as much quality for almost one third the price.”
