AUCKLAND, Today: Kiwi mums are officially on the controller, with Ready Gamer Mum launching on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+ after premiering last night.
The homegrown game show brings online gaming, family dynamics, nerves, laughs and the occasional “Mum, not that button” energy to local audiences.
Produced by South Pacific Pictures, Ready Gamer Mum is an original New Zealand-developed format supported by Omnicom Media clients backing premium local content.
The series screens every Thursday for the next eight weeks across TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+. Each episode features teams made up of a dedicated gamer and their mum, all competing for a cash prize of up to $50,000. There is, naturally, a catch. The gamers are not allowed to touch the controller.
Instead, they must coach their mum through some of the world’s most popular online games, testing patience, communication, teamwork and possibly a few family relationships.
Commenting on the show format, Angela Spain, Omnicom Media content’s managing director said, “Ready Gamer Mum delivers feel good family entertainment and through our partnership with South Pacific Pictures, TVNZ and the commitment from our clients.
“It’s a great example of collaboration to create local content, produced by kiwi for kiwi. The team have created thoughtful show integration for the brands involved, while maintaining a highly entertaining format. We’re looking forward to audience feedback.”

The show is represented internationally by All3 Media.

“The opportunity for those clients to leverage their association with additional content specifically made for their platforms, shows that investing in local programming gives you brand exposure that you can’t get from traditional advertising.”
Omnicom Media continues to back local media production, with around $20M invested over the past five years across multiple channels and media partners, supported by clients.
