AUCKLAND, Today: Since winning the Book Depository business back in August 2018, Freemans Bay indie agency Republik has been busy producing work for markets around the world, with campaigns running in Singapore, Ireland, and Hong Kong.

The latest New Zealand campaign has just launched, promoting Book Depository’s free delivery on 20 million books. The idea ‘if you’re into it, we’ve got a book on it’ is brought to life through visually impactful street posters, a humorous layer of radio, and a targeted social influencer programme.

Generating further awareness for the new campaign is a pop-up bookshelf, filled with bestsellers for Aucklanders to take home. The bookshelf’s location will be teased out through Book Depository’s social channels – “so,” says Republik’s Paul McNamara, “give them a follow to land yourself a top title.”

“Athough we sit on opposite sides of the world, the collaborative process works well and the campaign from Republik is exceptional.”

“Kiwi’s love reading,” he says “What better way to buy a book than to jump online, browse the digital bookshelves and score a bargain. And because there’s no delivery fee on 20 million books, I’m now buying presents for friends and family all over the world and getting them delivered direct. It takes all the hassle out of it, and I’ve firmly cemented my place as the family’s favourite uncle.”

Book Depository senior marketing manager Mitch Lang said, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Republik.

“Even though we sit on opposite sides of the world, the collaborative process works really well and the final campaign material from Republik is exceptional.

“It’s a totally different approach, and I’m sure sales will reflect all the hard work everyone’s put in. If we’re completely honest, we can’t wait to get started on the next campaign.”
