AUCKLAND, Friday: Fujifilm New Zealand is turning the focus firmly on Auckland, with Rise & Shine appointed to launch its much-anticipated House of Photography in Rosedale.

Opening on 7 May, the Auckland site brings Fujifilm’s global experiential retail concept to Aotearoa for the first time.

It is also the largest House of Photography in the Southern Hemisphere and the second largest in the world, which is not a bad little flex for the local market.

The concept first launched in London’s Covent Garden, before rolling out across major international cities including Hong Kong, Seoul, Barcelona and Sydney.

Rather than leaning on traditional retail, House of Photography brings technology, creativity and community together under one roof.

Rise & Shine has been brought in to drive the launch strategy and communications, helping position the space as a destination for content creation, storytelling and hands-on brand experience.

“This is about creating a space where technology and creativity meet. It’s not just about selling cameras, it’s about giving people a place to experiment, learn and create, whether they’re professionals, enthusiasts or memory makers,” – Peter Bonisch, General Manager of Imaging Solutions New Zealand, Fujifilm

Designed as more than a store, the space gives visitors the chance to test Fujifilm’s latest imaging technology, from INSTAX to X Series and GFX.

It will also offer professional services including printing, film development and studio hire, alongside workshop areas for public sessions.

A rotating gallery programme will showcase local photographers, giving the space another creative layer beyond products and services.

The launch also taps into the wider shift towards experience-led retail, where brands are placing more value on participation than simple transactions.

For Fujifilm, that means creating a physical space that can also act as a content engine, letting people create, share and engage in real time.

Peter Bonisch, General Manager of Imaging Solutions New Zealand, Fujifilm, says the project is a chance to bring a globally proven concept to a local audience in a way that feels culturally relevant.

“This is about creating a space where technology and creativity meet. It’s not just about selling cameras, it’s about giving people a place to experiment, learn and create, whether they’re professionals, enthusiasts or memory makers,” he says.

The House of Photography will open to the public from 8 May at Fujifilm New Zealand’s headquarters, 2C William Pickering Drive, Rosedale, Auckland.
