Sophie, with a 20-year track record as an international documentary Director and Producer, has contributed to projects on Netflix Dark Tourist, Amazon Prime, PBS, and BBC. She’s celebrated for her work on indigenous, character-driven stories and natural history in the globe’s most secluded areas.

“I feel privileged to be working alongside a team that values integrity, pushes the boundaries and reflects the diversity of stories and culture we have in Aotearoa.”

Sophie joins GM Andy Day in driving Studio Butter towards delivering even more distinctive stories for clients and collaborators. Andy remarks, “Sophie brings her vast knowledge of filming with diverse cultures and environments from all over the world, to our local stories and content at Studio Butter.”

Sophie’s addition is seen as a major asset for Studio Butter’s storytelling ambitions. “We see a real benefit in brands using in-depth, longer-form, storytelling to engage with their audiences and we believe Sophie to be one of the best in the country at doing this. We’re over the moon to have her working her magic across our portfolio.”

Sophie herself is enthusiastic about her new role, stating, “Andy attracts amazing people to the Studio Butter space – an exceptional crew working with innovative clients. In a rapidly changing industry, Studio Butter is constantly adapting to continue making beautiful work across a number of formats. I feel privileged to be working alongside a team that values integrity, pushes the boundaries and reflects the diversity of stories and culture we have in Aotearoa. Plus it’s an insanely good vibe!”
