Spikes tap Kiwi quartet

Four Kiwi agency executives has been appointed to juries at this year’s Spikes Asia. Previously Unavailable founder James Hurman will be president of the Creative Effectiveness jury, Y&R CD Tom Paine will sit on the Direct and Promo & Activation jury, MediaCom ceo Nigel Douglas will sit on the Media jury, and Sherson Willis director Trish Sherson will sit on the PR jury.

This year’s awards will be held Wednesday-Friday 21-23 September in Singapore. The jury members – 30% of whom are female – come from across the Asia-Pacific region.

The final deadline for entries has been extended one weel – to Friday 12 August. Full details on categories, rules and entry processes along with details on how to attend can be found at www.spikes.asia.

The Asia Pacific region brought home five Grand Prixat this year’s Cannes Lions Festival: Dentsu Japan, won in Design for Panasonic’s Life is Electric; Mindshare India won the Glass Lion for creating India’s first transgender pop band, 6 Pack Band, in partnership with tea brand Brooke Bond Red Label; Y&R NZ Auckland won across Media and Print & Publishing for McWhopper; while Colenso BBDO Auckland won the Outdoor Grand Prix with Brewtroleum.

“This incredible result demonstrates the breadth and scope of creative excellence in the region, which will be celebrated at this year’s Spikes Asia Festival,” said festival chairman Terry Savage.

“Our selected jurors represent the best industry talent, across a spectrum of creativity disciplines, who will be tasked with determining the future path of creative communications.”
