AUCKLAND, Wednesday: NZ/US PR agency SweeneyVesty has appointed Mike Shaw as its newest Auckland-based consultant. Shaw previously led Massey University’s communications team.

Prior roles include director of student communications at AUT, and communications manager of the Crown Research Institute, and Plant & Food Research. He has also served for the past eight years on the board of trustees of Rangitoto College, New Zealand’s largest secondary school.

A graduate of the University of Waikato where he studied environmental science and public relations, Shaw also holds an MBA from AUT, and professional qualifications from the Public Relations Institute of NZ and Institute of Directors.

“SweeneyVesty was founded in NZ in 1987 by Brian Sweeney and Jane Vesty, and expanded to New York in 2003.”

SweeneyVesty Auckland GM Greg Fahey says Shaw has diverse experience in large organisations, and sound professional practice in utilising effective communications to solve challenging problems.

“Over the past 34 years SweeneyVesty has built a strong reputation for helping our clients navigate complex situations requiring acute communications solutions. We’re excited about the contribution Mike will make to our team and clients.”
