AUCKLAND, Today: Colenso BBDO scooped the numbers when the shortlist was unveiled for the Marketing Association’s 2019 NZDM Awards. The agency has 17 finalists, including four shared with Chemistry who have another four nominations of their own.

Track is the second most-nominated finalist with 12, followed by FCB with 10 noms, Hunch with seven and Loyalty NZ and Skinny Marketing both with six.

All category winners (excluding the Special Awards) will be honoured with Gold, Silver or Bronze recognition. The Gold Award recipients in the Industry and Channel categories and Nexus categories will be judged by a panel of industry experts who will decide which campaigns showcased individual brilliance in direct marketing and ultimately achieve glory as Grand Prix and Nexus Supreme Award winners.

NZMA ceo John Miles said: “These really show the standard of marketing in New Zealand and it’s fantastic to see such deserving finalists. Thanks to the judges for the awesome job they’ve done and the time they’ve given up to support the MA community.”

Trevor Moodie, chief judge for the Industry, Channel, Craft, Special and Grand Prix Awards said: “This year we are celebrating a wide range of entries including some standout campaigns delivering direct marketing gold through solid delivery of insight, engagement and data use.

“What is also encouraging is the proliferation of technology and data being used in clever and interesting ways and the increase in effective use of social media platforms.

“Many of the campaigns have also effectively used video as part of the approach.

Overall, it was great to see metrics and performance being deployed to better inform campaign results and elevating the role of marketing within business strategies.”
