NEW YORK, Today: The New York Festivals’ 2019 AME Awards have invited Brand Spanking NZ director Mark Pickering to join the grand jury for next year’s prime global effectiveness competition.

Pickering was selected following an AME request to global ad media to nominate potential jury members – M+AD promptly hung Pickering out to dry (he has yet to accept, but we believe this to be a formality).

AME executive director Gayle Seminara Mandel wrote to Pickering:  “David Gapes was kind enough to nominate you as a Grand Jury member for the AME Awards. I would be thrilled if you’d consider joining this year’s AME Grand Jury.

“The International AME Awards has been honouring the world’s best advertising marketing effectiveness campaigns since 1994,” she sais. Our world-class judges review submissions in the most current and relevant categories to award the most effective campaigns across all media.

“We also require the world’s best judges. To find the most talented people in the industry from around the world to serve on the Grand Jury, we developed a peer recommendation program.

Here’s how it works: The three-round judging process is done entirely online during January and February. The jury is separated into five regions, North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East/North Africa.

Judges review entries from within their own regions and score each based on its own merit, not in comparison to other entries. This round determines the shortlist.

All shortlist entries are scored again, also by region and based on their own merits to determine determines the Bronze, Silver, and Gold winners for each region.

“The Best in Show will be presented to the campaign that earns the highest score across all regions.

The Platinums, Green Award & Grand Award
All Gold-winning work is scored by all judges in all regions. A Platinum Award is presented to the top-scoring entry in each region, regardless of category.

The AME Green Award is presented to the highest scoring Gold-winning campaign that represents the ideals of resource conservation, ecology and/or the reduction of negative impacts to the environment.

The Grand AME Award (Best in Show) will be presented to the campaign that earns the highest score across all regions in this round.

Gayle Seminara Mandel said: “The online judging process provides a much broader audience view and allows us to include more judges from more countries, which means the AME Grand Jury, comprised of the world’s top and talented marketers, media planners and strategy directors, representing more cultures than any other international competition.

“And because judges are able to review the work at their leisure and without any outside pressure or unwanted influences, it ensures the best and most fair evaluation system in the industry.

I hope your work schedule will allow you to join your international colleagues on the 2019 AME International Grand Jury.
