AUCKLAND, Tuesday: Tribal Worldwide NZ has been appointed as lead social agency for Samsung NZ following a competitive pitch.

The digital experience agency will work across all product categories for the consumer electronics company, as Samsung ramps up its efforts in this space in the NZ market.

Tribal’s win sees it join affiliated company Mango Communications on the Samsung business. Mango has provided PR and influencer marketing to Samsung mobile since 2018, and from the beginning of this year will add household appliances and TV to the mix.

“The integration between Mango and Tribal was a compelling offering for us.”

Tribal managing partner James Blair said: “We announced the launch of Tribal towards the end of last year, and to be able to kick off 2020 working with such an iconic company is amazing.

“The team at Samsung are fantastic and are ambitious about what they want to achieve in this space in the year ahead.”

Mango GM Sean Brown said: “We’ve loved working on Samsung over the last two years so to now have a broader scope and the opportunity to integrate our approach with Tribal is an exciting prospect.”

Samsung NZ’s Simon Smith said: “We were very impressed by the Tribal team and are excited to see where they’ll take our brand through social in the year ahead.

“The integration between Mango and Tribal was a compelling offering for us, as we look for more integration and focus on PR, social and influencer activity in 2020 and beyond.”

Tribal Worldwide is part of the DDB Group.
