True’s trip down Memory Lane wins Newspaper Ad of the Month

True has won the January Newspaper Ad of the Month for Air NZ Remember when ads used to look like this? “This is a nice long copy ad which stood out from the rest,” the judges said.

Hampsta picked up a Special Mention for Don’t get dicked again, with the judges complimenting “the special strategic thought” behind the ad.

There was no winner award at December’s Newspaper Ad of the Month – but there were two special mentions. Young & Shand’s Life Pod Even God needs a hand sometimes (the judges said it was “beautifully art directed and topical”); and Clemenger BBDO’s Ministry for Primary Industries Blue Cod ad (“great strong creative but a full page would have given the art direction better impact”).

The judges were Andrew Davidson (Big Communications), Vikki Cheng (Sugar & Partners) and Rob Cook (Barnes, Catmur & Friends).

As there was no winner for December 2015, the prize for January jackpotted to $500.

Ad of the Month accepts entry from newspaper digital ads, as well as newspaper print ads. News Works’ Ad of the Month is open to any ad that has appeared on a New Zealand newspaper website or app, or in any print edition. To enter digital or print ads, go to www.newsworksnz.co.nz.

Ad of the Month for February will be judged in early March. Entries are open now.

Every monthly winner from 1 July 2015 to 31 June 2016 will automatically be entered into the $10,000 Newspaper Ad of the Year.
