McDonald’s, with the guidance of social and media agencies Fuse and OMD, have introduced Snapchat chain filters to the New Zealand market.

These branded Snapchat Geofilters are available when inside any of the McDonald’s standalone restaurants in New Zealand. Users simply take a snap and swipe across to access the filter.

McDonald’s head of comms Simon Kenny said: “After seeing the success of our Snapchat activity throughout 2017, we wanted to be the innovators in this evolving social space. The chain filters enable our consumers to have an interactive brand experience while in restaurant.

The chain filters are available within McDonald’s NZ restaurants for a year and will be changed out regularly to complement brand and campaign activity.

The first branded Geofilter is inspired by the Big Mac, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary globally in 2018.
