The Magazine Publishers Association has unveiled 116 finalists for its 2016 New Zealand Magazine Awards.

“The standard of work we saw in the entries was exceptional, reflecting the rapid evolution and growing sophistication of magazine media across every conceivable platform,” said John Baker, MPA board member and ceo of Tangible Media.

James Frankham, MPA vice-chairman and Kowhai Media publisher, said: “This year’s finalists are evidence of an innovation explosion in the magazine sector.

“The diversity of working solutions demonstrate how many opportunities there are for magazine media in the modern environment. In a time where big ideas and unconventional thinking are constantly needed, it’s heartening to see so much potential.

“Entrants particularly embraced the five new award categories, introduced to reflect the ever-changing face of the industry: Best Magazine 360 Brand Audience, Best Launch/Relaunch, Best Use of Research, Best Use of Video and Rising Star.

“The MPA are hugely grateful to the 68 judges who generously offered their time and experience, and would also like to thank all who took the time to enter.
