The honours for NZ from this year’s AdStars Awards keep on rolling in, with news that two MDS AdSchool teams have scored in the Innovation category.

Joshua Foley & Brooke Wiley, and Cain Duff & Aiken Hutcheson won two of only three awards handed out in the non-professional section of the category.

AdSchool CD Kate Humphries said: “Inspired by their own experiences in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake, Brooke and Josh’s idea, Coke Under Rubble, is an initiative to increase Coke’s already significant disaster relief efforts by harnessing their vast machine network to help recover trapped bodies in the aftermath of a disaster.

“Cain and Aiken’s idea, Colgate Double Check, makes saving lives as simple as brushing your teeth, by addressing the fact that although diabetes is now the 8th biggest killer in the world, it’s a killer that’s often not detected until it’s far too late.

“The non-professional category received 4000 entries this year, so we’re more than pleased that our students scored two out of the final three awards in the innovation category.

NewsWorks, too
“And we’re also pretty happy with the news just in that out of 90 entries from MDS, AUT and Otago, our students teams took out the main competition prize, the runner-“up spot, the topical prize and special commendation at the NewsWorks student competition.
