Just minutes after we posted Friday’s rant about Independent Liquor pulling its creative & media accounts from Barnes Catmur & Friends Dentsu, we received two emails that answered all our questions – Whybin advised us they’d won the creative side of the business, and OMD notified us of their media win for the same client.

We ran the Whybin story the same day (here). Now here’s the OMD release …

OMD New Zealand has been appointed to the Independent Liquor business following a competitive pitch process.

Independent Liquor GM of marketing Australia/NZ Michael Edmonds said: “The communications landscape is changing so quickly we need a partner that’s smart and nimble enough to navigate that landscape effectively.

“OMD offers the breadth and depth of services our business requires in the modern environment, and we’re looking forward to seeing what they can deliver.”

Managing Partner Andrew Reinholds says OMD is thrilled with the win. “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with such a great team and such an amazing portfolio of brands. The entire office is fizzing, and chomping at the bit to roll up our sleeves and get stuck in.

“We are also looking forward to working with Independent Liquor’s new creative partners.”

The appointment is effective immediately.
