The Paris-based Epica Awards organisation – the only global creative show judged by journalists – has updated its Ikea brand tribute e-book with the winners from last year (plus a collection of the campaigns that have won at Epica over the years).
Omnicom crowned Holding Company of the Year
Paris, November 25. – Omnicom is the Epica Awards Holding Company of the Year. Omnicom’s agencies – TBWA, DDB and BBDO – won a combined total of 82 awards during the 30th edition of the Epica Awards. It was a gratifying result for Omnicom after a battle between DDB, BBDO and Leo Burnett for the Network of the Year title, which was finally won by Leo Burnett from rival holding Publicis Groupe.
Paris finally gongs Brewtroleum
The Epica judges finally came to the party, awarding Colenso’s groundbreaking DB Brewtroleum three Silvers. Astonishingly, though, this campaign – which has swept all before it at most of the major global awards shows – did not reach the upper levels in Paris.
NZ, Australian creativity not wanted in Paris
M+AD ed David Gapes’ late nights helping to judge the Epica Awards have come to nowt. Sadly, so has the efforts put in by Campaign Brief Australia ed Michael Lynch.

Colenso BBDO’s celebrated DB Export Brewtroleum is the only NZ entry to get past the first level of judging at the Epica Awards, the Paris-based global competition judged by journalists (including M+AD ed David Gapes).
